Day 13: Make a W.I.S.H. – the power of our words, part 2

What I Say Happens, Part 2

So, yesterday we talked about the power of our words and how we can actually speak things into being.

And I promised I would give you another reason, if you weren’t convinced the first time.

Have you ever heard the phrase- “You’ll eat those words?” Do you know where it comes from? I’m not sure, but I will say I think it could be this:

Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

We will eat the words, either sweet or bitter, that we speak. I know that is true. There are so many times that I am exhausted and the kids aren’t listening, and I fall into yelling at them because I get so fed up. And within minutes I am eating it, because the situation always escalates, and the relationship is negatively affected. And I walk away feeling like a bully.

When I take the time to calm myself, and somehow through the grace of someone stronger than I, I give a gentle answer in that moment instead, I immediately eat of the sweetness.

New Living Translation

21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
And reap them, we do.
Let’s create Amazingly Miraculously Good consequences!

Imagine a world where everything we said just happened, like some magic spell in a Harry Potter movie or something.

Why do you think kids are so drawn to stories like this? I believe it’s because they know somewhere deep down that we actually hold power (by God’s design to reign in authority over this earth, and to speak worlds into existence like our Dad) like that. The enemy is more than happy to offer it because so many Christians don’t know they have it!

Ever wonder why a curse word is called a curse word? Maybe people of old were on to something? When I came to the revelation that EVERY word that comes out of my mouth, I will give an account for (first of all) and second of all WHY I will give an account for it (because it either speaks death or life…) I had to ask God to forgive me! All those wasted words. All those curses I’ve spoken over my children, My husband, My self. Dear God, save  me from myself! It literally changed my life. And continues to change and shape and mold my life, and the lives of those whom I love.
What would your world look like if this were true? If we wielded the power of the Sword (the word of God) and defended what is rightfully ours, and spoke into existence things that are not as though they were? hmm…
Dare to Imagine it! Dare to actually envision what it could look like. Meditate on that image. God sometimes gives us promises as pictures we see in our mind. An image of your child healed and whole. Dare I even say… running in the sunshine?
He sometimes gives us promises in dreams. We have to be courageous enough to dream big dreams again. I know its terrifying. But we have to. Because what we believe, we will speak. And what we speak will come to pass.

Proverbs 18:21

New International Version (NIV)

21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Or here it is in another version:

New Living Translation

21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

Romans 4:17

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

17 as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”)—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

Are you or your child in a life or death situation? Mine is.

Will you join with me and commit to ONLY speaking LIFE over you/her/him? It isn’t going to be easy, I tell you that right now. You may feel a bit silly, you may feel even maybe like a liar- but, like God, we are to speak the things that are not, as though they were*. This is not lying. This is utilizing the amazing weapon we have been given. You will have to change the way you think, even. But I know you can do it! It is amazingly powerful.

*Romans 4:17

If you need a reminder, what I have done in the past is written it on my wrist “Speak only LIFE” or “NO NEGATIVE WORDS” I have even asked my close friends to call me out on it, because I’m human, and I forget. That is why we need each other.

I am about to show you what picking up the sword and doing battle looks like: A prayer of declaration.

Maybe you’re not used to this kind of prayer- and it makes you feel uncomfortable. If so, I ask only that you take it up with God. Ask Him why.

DECLARE it! I do not have the authority to declare these things over your child, unless you gave it to me- but you do, so I will speak this over Vivia, and you can speak it over your child if you wish it to be so, or strongly agree. But say it OUT LOUD. These kinds of prayers must be spoken. Literally speak it over your child. Place your hands on him/her. Touch itself has been proven by science to be a tool of healing.

Father, by your power and the power you gave me since I accepted your son Jesus and his work on the cross, I speak healing, and wholeness, and prosperity, and long satisfying sweet life over my children. I declare that this illness will be the tail, and Vivia will be the head! It will not control her, she will put it under her foot! I declare that it will not stop her from any calling you have on her life. I declare that you will use this situation for good.

I declare Victory over her. I declare a CHANGE in her during these 40 days- a change in her BODY, in her SPIRIT, and in her HEART. I declare that she will not fight with me any longer but that she will take that energy and fight the illness within her. I declare that she will begin to use her own words to speak life into her own body, and not to describe her situation, but to change her situation. That she will see me not as an enemy to fight, but will recognize us as fighting FOR her, alongside her.

I declare that her immune system is INTELLIGENT and DISCERNING. It knows that her body is NOT the enemy. It knows what to attack and what to protect.

I call forth PEACE in her innermost being, I call forth an acceptance of herself, and a love for herself that defies age and reason.

I speak STRENGTH over her muscles and joints and I declare that any inflammation will go down! I also declare that the blood flow in through the veins in her body would be at the rate it should be, and that there be no unnecessary strain on her heart. I also speak strength into her eyes and her vision.

I declare that the medicines she is taking do their job in her body, and be blessed to her body, and do no harm.

I Declare that this will be the LAST TIME she has to be treated for this illness. I thank you Lord for the doctors who have cared for her, and the technology that you have provided, and the medicines that have ushered in healing within her body, but I call forth a FULL healing in the name of Jesus! I DO NOT agree that this illness with dominate her life. I believe you when you say that you heal all our diseases and afflictions. I don’t believe that is for someone else, I believe that is for US, and for HER.

I declare what your word says, and nothing else. Holy Spirit, stop me if I am ever about to speak something I shouldn’t or something that would grieve you.

I cancel out any words that have been spoken over her, by doctors or otherwise- that have declared that she will never be rid of this disease. Or that this disease never goes away, it just runs and hides. Or that there’s no cure. That’s a LIE! There is a cure, it just hasn’t been discovered yet! But until then, Jesus, YOU ARE OUR CURE.

Thank you Jesus for your love, your guidance, and your intercession on our behalf.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Sarah Halladay - I love words! I’ve had too many painful moments either hearing or saying negative ones( that I’m not proud of). However, with Jesus there’s so much grace, and He has given me several chances to make the right choice. Thank you Freedom Goguen Martinez for reminding me how valuable my words are! Praying for you all too.
